A Little About My Condition
-
Retinitis Pigmentosa
A group of rare genetic disorders involving a loss of cells in the retina (light sensitive tissue).
Symptoms include
difficulty seeing at night and a loss of peripheral vision.
I was not born blind but met with a car accident. I was diagnosed at the age of 35 and at 45, I lost my center vision. I became completely blind at 55.
It has been
10 yeas since I have been completely blind.
#1 Secret Talent
I have done 8 marathons and won first place in an archery competition against the sighted!
Three Talents of Mine?

Motivational
I have spoken to many audiences, even over 900 people. I am able to be open and personal about sharing my story in a way that teaches others and strengthens them as well. After motivational talks, people often tear and hug me as they feel very moved and inspired by my story!
Active
I always look at the brighter side of life and take part in as many activities as I can. I have achieved many successful accomplishments in various aspects from speaking, to archery, and even cosplay!
Family Oriented
My family is exceptionally important to me and I will always support and think of them in all I do, even through my condition. I now have successful, married children, and a strong relationship with my wife who will always be my lover.
What Do I Do In My Free Time?

Music
I am the youngest keyboardist in a band called SilverAce which consists of people 65 years old and above. We perform at hospices where we bring out the joy from the elderly as they sing and dance with us!

Acting
I am part of Play in the Dark @ Esplanade and was selected to go for a Japan workshop! I also acted in the light at Marine Parade Community Centre. A big achievement is winning first place in a cosplay competition!

Photography
I take pictures of things that are meaningful in my life. My first picture taken was NP’s dustbin at the bus stop as it is an important landmark. I also took pictures of my shadow crossing the road with the tactile markings which are important to me, and how I usually get around!
#2 Special Talent
I sold my first calligraphy painting represented my family with 4 of the Chinese letters “ren” at $300!
